Geothermal energy can be found virtually anywhere, and it’s one of the most environment friendly heating and cooling systems available. No matter the climate you live in, the earth absorbs over 40 percent of solar energy, which it then stores beneath its surface.

HEAT PUMPS / GEOTHERMAL HEAT PUMPS

Heat pumps move heat from the cool outdoors into your warm house; during the cooling season, heat pumps move heat from your cool house into the warm outdoors. There are three types of heat pump systems the choose from: the air source, dual fuel and at least but not the last, geothermal electric heat pumps.

INDOOR AIR QUALITY (IAQ)

Term referring to the air quality within and around buildings and structures, especially as it relates to the health and comfort of building occupants. IAQ can be affected by microbial contaminants (mold, bacteria), gases (including carbon monoxide, radon, volatile organic compounds), particulates, or any mass or energy stressor that can induce adverse health conditions. Indoor air is becoming an increasingly more concerning health hazard than outdoor air. Using ventilation to dilute contaminants, filtration, and source control are the primary methods for improving indoor air quality in most buildings.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY

Is the goal of efforts to reduce the amount of energy required to provide products and services. For example, insulating a home allows a building to use less heating and cooling energy to achieve and maintain a comfortable temperature. Installing fluorescent lights or natural skylights reduces the amount of energy required to attain the same level of illumination compared to using traditional light bulbs. Compact fluorescent lights use two-thirds less energy and may last 6 to 10 times longer then traditional light bulbs. Improvements in energy efficiency are most often achieved by adopting a more efficient technology or production process.

WATER EFFICIENCY

Water efficiency differs from water conservation in that it focuses on reducing waste by choosing more water efficient products

MATERIALS EFFICIENCY

Rapidly renewable plant materials like bamboo (because bamboo grows quickly) and straw, lumber from forests certified to be sustainable managed

WASTE REDUCTION

Green architecture also seeks to reduce waste of energy, water and materials used during Construction. During the construction phase, one goal should be to reduce the amount of material going to landfills. Well-designed buildings also help reduce the amount of waste generated by the occupants as well, by providing on-site solutions such as compost bins to reduce matter going to landfills.
